Category Development Manager

The Position: 

CARDONE Industries is seeking a Category Development Manager to join its Channel Management division. The Channel Management team, an arm of the Sales and Marketing division, works cross-functionally to provide support to both the internal sales team and externally directly with the customers.

Qualifications:

Experience: 3-5 years of related experience

Education: Bachelors Degree

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with the category planning process at assigned customers as the category expert, in coordination with Senior Sales Leadership.
  • Coordinate the customer category planning process with the Director of Sales Strategy and Development.
  • Provide technical, analytical insights for both Consumer & Installer Channels during the sales process and category planning process.
  • Manage the evaluation, gathering and communication of market research to the appropriate functional areas within CARDONE.
  • Facilitate the development of the category strategy, pricing strategy, portfolio strategy, customer marketing strategy and service strategy.
  • Accountable for the assessment elements of the Category Planning process. Including customer competitive pricing analysis, distribution, assortment, marketing, promotional activity, and sales programs.
  • Collaborate with the Product team in Product comparison analysis, part number specific distribution and assortment strategies.
  • Assist Sales and Channel Management with pricing and promotional proposals, using price shop information and parts availability tools.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate relevant customer presentations.
  • Accountable for gathering customer Forecast, Order, Purchase, Point-of- Sale, Returns and Inventory data on a predetermined basis, and identify both opportunities & risk.
  • Assist Supply Management with ongoing CPFR functions, and provide necessary inputs to the planning tools.
  • Develop customer specific Category support functions, based on customer requirements.
  • Assist in the development of customer scorecard and KPIs.
  • Proactively lead a joint partner planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones associated with a productive partner relationship.
  • Monitor competitor activity within the channel market, including benchmarking (products, programs and problems) and help create strategic plans to boost the company’s market share.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate partner needs on an ongoing basis; work directly with customers' category/product managers and cross-functionally within CARDONE in order to meet performance objectives, and maintain good working relationships as CARDONE's main contact for support on the following activities
  • Prepare and conduct period line reviews with customer
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Travel Requirements:

Up to 20% travel domestically.
